Battery Safe Keeping

MOD BIKES has lithium-ion batteries in all our models. Some attentiveness is required to maximize the lifespan of your battery. The following guide provides all the steps needed to properly care for your battery.

Charging your battery

All MOD BIKES batteries come paired with a 48v 2ah. We recommend only using the charger we provided. If you need a new charger, contact our team for a replacement.

MOD BIKES batteries take 6-8 hours to fully charge from empty. The charger will get hot to the touch while the battery is connected and receiving a charge.

The charger has an LED that is red when charging, and green when idle. We highly recommend removing the battery from the charger when the LED turns green, indicating it is no longer charging. MOD BIKES offers charger timers that will shut off when the battery is fully charged.

The battery can be charged on or off the bike.

Maintaining your battery

MOD BIKES batteries are sealed units, meaning they are dust-proof and water-resistant. We do not recommend riding in pouring down rain, or on the shore of any body of water.

Do not open your battery. If you are experiencing issues with your battery, a MOD BIKES mechanic needs to do an electrical assessment. Tampering with your battery will void your warranty.

Storing your battery

Lithium-ion batteries can operate in extreme temperatures, but they do not perform well when stored at extreme temperatures.

Do not store your battery in a damp place.

If you're not using the battery for a while, make sure to store it properly by maintaining a charge level between 40-60%.

Faulty Battery

While batteries are not immune to production issues, a faulty battery is a rare occurrence. Most often there is a blown fuse in either the charging port or the discharging port. To have your battery fuses, please reach out to MOD BIKES for assistance.

If you have received a faulty battery, it is important to bring it to the attention of the MOD BIKES team immediately. Prolonged use of the battery will indicate to us that the issue is due every day use or misuse of the battery and it's proper care practices.
