Error Codes (Monochrome Display)

MOD BIKES, like any piece of technology, can encounter issues on occasion. MOD BIKES have built in error codes that can help determine what part or area is having an issue. Understanding these error codes can often be the key to resolving issues swiftly and getting back on the road!

Error Code
Definition
Error Code 21
Voltage Current Error
Error Code 22
Throttle Error
Error Code 23
Motor Phase Error
Error Code 24
Motor Communication or Motor Hall Sensor Error
Error Code 25
EBS (Electronic Brake Shutoff)
Error Code 30
Communication Error

21 - Voltage Current Error

This error indicates that something is amiss with the power delivery. There are a few different possibilities to troubleshoot this error code. Troubleshoot here.

22 - Throttle Error

The MOD City + and MOD Easy both come with a throttle for convenient power on demand, thus this error code is limited to those models (as well as previous models MOD City and MOD Light).

The throttle cable runs from the throttle (which is on the right part of the handlebar on the City + and Easy) to the main wire. Troubleshoot here.

23 - Motor Phase Error

This error is usually displayed when the motor's power cable is not properly attached to the bike's main cable.  In most cases, this is a relatively quickly resolved error code. Troubleshoot here.

24 - Motor Communication or Motor Hall Sensor Error

This error is usually displayed when there is a problem with the signal from the motor to the controller. Troubleshoot here.

25 - EBS (Electronic Brake Shutoff)

Your brake levers each contain a sensor that tells the motor to shut off whenever you use your brakes.

There are two cables running from the brake lever - the thicker one is the hydraulic brake cable, and the other is the motor inhibitor’s brake sensor. Troubleshoot here.

30 - Communication Error

This error code is the result of one component of the bike’s electrical system not properly “communicating” with another part (whether the display, motor, controller, or wiring). There are many possibilities with this error code. Troubleshoot here.
