Difficulty

★☆☆ Easy

Estimated Time

5 - 10 Min

Before You Start

Tools you will need

  • 8mm wrench (center kickstand)
  • 5mm Allen wrench (rear kickstand)
  • 4mm Allen wrench (for adjustment)
  • Bolt Tray (or any small container for screws)

Preparation

  • Power off the bike.

Steps

Step 1: Position the Bike

  • Lean the bike against a wall on the right side

  • Make sure the kickstand is lifted and free

  • Protect the contact surface with something soft like a rag, foam, or cardboard

Step 2: Remove the Existing Kickstand

For Center Kickstand (MOD Easy / City / Groove):

  • Use an 8mm wrench

  • Remove the single mounting bolt

  • Take off the kickstand

For Rear Kickstand (MOD Black / Berlin):

  • Use a 5mm Allen wrench

  • Remove the two mounting bolts

  • Take off the kickstand

Step 3: Identify Kickstand Parts

The kickstand is made up of three main components:

  1. Upper Mount (Frame Attachment) - connects the kickstand to the bike

  2. Lower Leg (Ground Contact) - touches the floor

  3. Adjustment Insert (Internal Piece) - holds the bolt and allows height adjustment

Note: If the adjustment insert (Part 3) is lost or damaged, you can purchase a replacement here.

If the Adjustment Insert (Part 3) Fell Out

  1. Place the adjustment insert back inside the upper leg.

  2. Slide the lower leg onto the upper section, ensuring the opening faces the side where the bolt will go.

  3. Align the hole in the lower leg with the threaded hole of the insert inside.

  4. Insert the bolt and tighten it securely using a 4mm Allen wrench.

Step 4: Adjust the New Kickstand Length

  1. Loosen the bolt slightly using a 4mm Allen wrench

  2. Extend the kickstand fully, then shorten it slightly to reach the ideal height

  3. Tighten the bolt securely

Step 5: Install the New Kickstand

For Center Kickstand:

  • Align with frame mount

  • Install the 8mm bolt

  • Tighten securely

For Rear Kickstand:

  • Align with rear mount

  • Install the two 5mm bolts

  • Tighten securely

Step 6: Check the Lean Angle

  • Place the bike on the kickstand
  • The bike should lean slightly (about 5–10°)

✔️ Correct: Stable, slight lean

❌ Incorrect: Leaning too much

Note: If the bike is leaning too much, go back to Step 4 and adjust the kickstand length. You do not need to remove the kickstand, just loosen the adjustment bolt, extend it slightly, and retighten until the bike sits more upright.

Troubleshooting

  • Bike leans too much → Extend the kickstand slightly by adjusting the bolt in Step 4.
  • Bike stands too upright → Shorten the kickstand slightly to improve stability.
  • Kickstand feels loose → Ensure the mounting bolt(s) and adjustment bolt are fully tightened.
  • Kickstand won’t adjust → Check that the adjustment insert (Part 3) is properly installed and aligned with the bolt.

FAQs

  • Do all MOD bikes use the same kickstand?
Yes. The kickstand mechanism is the same, but the mounting location differs (center vs rear).
  • How do I know if the height is correct?
The bike should lean slightly (about 5–10°) and feel stable when resting on the kickstand.
  • Do I need to remove the kickstand to adjust it?
No. You can adjust the height by loosening the adjustment bolt and sliding the lower section.
  • What happens if the adjustment insert falls out?
You can reinstall it by following Step 4. If it is lost, replace it using the MOD Kickstand Replacement Bolt Kit.
  • Can I ride with a loose kickstand?
No. Always ensure the kickstand is securely tightened before riding.
