Routine Bike Maintenance
MOD BIKES are built to be your long-lasting partner in mobility. The key to keeping your bike running smoothly and working safely is proper maintenance, which involves three stages:
- Before every ride conduct a visual inspection of:
- Frame
- Look for any cracks, bends, or fractures that might compromise the structural integrity.
- Brake System
- Verify that your system does not have a leak in the levers or at the brake calipers. If your brakes feel soft to engage, it is likely air is trapped in the line, and need to seek professional assistance.
- Tire Pressure
- If your bike undergoes rapid extreme temperature fluctuation, the pressure inside your tires will become unstable causing reduced air pressure. This is especially an issue during the autumn and spring months.
- Lights
- Using the "+" button on your control panel, make sure your lights are functioning properly before you head out on longer rides.
- Frame
- Every month conduct an inspection of:
- Stem & Fork
- Make sure your stem and fork are both parallel to each other. Be sure your handlebars are secured tightly to the faceplate of the stem.
- Wheel Tightness
- Check your spokes by gently squeezing two of them towards each other. Go around your wheel checking all the spoke and if some bow more than the rest, they are loose. Tighten them by turning the spoke counter-clockwise.
- Check to make sure the quick-release skewers are properly aligned and tightened down.
- Stem & Fork
- Every 4 months or 500 miles (whichever comes first):
- Have your bike serviced by a professional mechanic at an authorized MOD BIKES dealer. All Bikes need tune-up just like a motor vehicle experiences. MOD BIKES are designed to take on the elements and last longer. The more you enjoy your bike, the more wear and tear your bike goes through.
