Selecting the Best MOD BIKE for Your Needs

Purchasing an electric bike can be a large commitment, but it doesn't need to be difficult.  Here's a quick set of questions that you might want to ask yourself before you start searching for your ideal bike.

What kind of riding do you plan on using your bike for?

Are you primarily a commuter, a trail-rider, a leisure cruiser, or courier? We sell bikes for every riding style, and some of our models provide some overlap between categories. Deciding what type of riding you will do the most will help you narrow down the features that will be necessary.

How tall are you, and what is your range of motion like?

Being short doesn't necessarily mean that you will need a smaller bike, but choosing a bike tailored to your height will certainly make your experience much better. Step-thru frames are a great option not only for shorter riders, but also for riders with lower ranges of motion. Long-distance runners are often plagued with tight hips, which can make getting on and off of many bikes difficult, even for tall riders.

How do you plan on storing and transporting your bike?

Considering the storage location for your bike is vital. If you live in a third-story walk-up, lugging a heavy bike up three flights of stairs on a daily basis is certainly not ideal. Choosing a bike tailored to your living/ storage situation will certainly make your experience more enjoyable.

Most bikes can easily fit onto car racks, but if you drive a small vehicle or do not own a car rack, you might find benefit in purchasing a smaller bike that can easily fold and fit into your trunk.

What kind of features do you need?

It's essential to consider your specific needs and the purpose of the bike. If you envision carrying cargo or giving your children a ride, prioritizing models equipped with racks, baskets, and child-seats is crucial. These features will not only enhance the bike's functionality but also ensure a comfortable and convenient experience for both you and your passengers.

All of our bikes come with an electric pedal-assist feature that will help you move up steep hills with little effort, but some of our bikes also come with a throttle that allows you to move the bike without pedaling.  Narrowing down which features are essential for your ride will greatly aid you in finding the ideal bike for your needs.
