MOD Foldylock | User Guide
In this article: You’ll learn how to mount, use, and properly secure your bike using the Foldylock, including best mounting options, correct locking points on the frame, and important key registration steps.
This Article Applies to the Following Bikes
Difficulty
★☆☆ Easy
Estimated Time
5 - 10 Min
Before You Start
Tools you will need
- 3 mm Allen Wrench (included in your Foldylock kit)
Preparation
- Ensure your bike is stable and supported on a kickstand
Steps | Mounting with Bolts
Step 1: Choose Your Mounting Point
The Foldylock can be mounted in several places. Rear rack (only V3 version), top tube, and down tube.

Step 2: Screw in Bolts
- Insert the two mounting bolts into the threaded holes on the frame or rear rack, leaving them slightly loose so the lock mount can slide into position.

Step 3: Position the Lock Mount
Place the Foldylock mount over the bolts. Align the slots in the bracket with the bolts.
Then slide the bracket down onto the bolts until it sits flush against the frame.

Step 4: Secure and Lock the Bracket
- Once aligned correctly, tighten the bolts fully using the provided Allen key to secure the mount.
- Make sure the bracket is firmly attached and does not move before inserting the lock.

Steps | Mounting with Straps
Note: Strap mounting is ideal for step-through frames or bikes without available mounting points. Always double-check that the mount is tight and stable before riding.
Step 1: Install the Rubber Strap Anchors
These rubber pieces act as strap anchors and vibration dampeners, keeping the mount secure and preventing movement on the frame.
Locate the two rubber strap anchors included with the mount. Each anchor has a flat outer face and a rounded post that inserts into the mount.
Hold the mount with the back facing up. Align the rounded post of the rubber anchor with one of the oval mounting holes on the back of the mount.
Firmly press the rubber anchor into the hole using your thumb until it seats fully. You should feel it snap into place and sit flush against the mount.
Confirm the rubber anchor is fully installed, centered, and flush with the mount surface. Repeat the same process for the second anchor.

Step 2: Prepare the Straps for Mounting
Using the Allen key provided, unscrew the threaded strap locking plug from the strap housing. Turn it counterclockwise until it is fully loosened.
Once loosened, pull the threaded locking plug completely out of the strap housing and set it aside.
Pull the strap free and straighten it out so it is fully extended and ready to be threaded through the mount slots.
Thread each strap through the back of the lock mount, as shown.

Step 3: Secure the Mount to the Frame
Position the mount against the frame tube. Wrap each strap around the frame and feed it through the strap channels by hand, pulling until the mount sits flush and centered.
Insert the threaded strap locking plugs back into the strap housings. Using the provided Allen key, turn them clockwise to fully tighten.
Thread any remaining strap length through the integrated rubber keepers to prevent loose ends from sticking out.
Insert the Foldylock into the mount and gently shake it to confirm everything is tight and secure.

How to Use the Foldylock
Insert the key into the lock cylinder and turn it clockwise to unlock.
Once unlocked, pull on the arm that contains the lock mechanism. The first arm will release from the body of the lock.
Continue pulling, or allow gravity to assist, and the Foldylock will naturally extend as the joints unfold.
Wrap the extended lock around your bike frame and the fixed object. Insert the metal locking end into the lock body, then insert the key and turn it counterclockwise to lock.

To Fold:
- After unlocking and removing the lock, fold it back into its compact shape by folding the arms inward at the hinges, one section at a time, until fully collapsed and ready to store in the mount.

Where to Lock Your Bike
To properly secure your bike, always lock through the main frame.
Do NOT lock your bike from these parts:
Fork – Can be removed from the frame
Rear rack – Not designed to withstand theft
Seat stays or chain stays – Thinner tubes that can be cut more easily
Correct locking points:
Down tube

Seat tube

These are the strongest parts of the bike frame and provide the best security. Pass the lock through the main frame and a strong fixed object (such as a bike rack or pole) to keep your bike properly secured.
Important: Register Your Key Code
Your Foldylock includes a key code card. As soon as you receive your lock, follow the instructions on this card and register your key code on the Seatylock website.
Registering your key code allows the manufacturer to create replacement keys if all original keys are lost.
If your lock is registered and you lose your keys, you can order new copies using your key code.
If your lock is not registered, replacement keys cannot be created.
Keep this card in a safe place and register your lock right away to avoid issues in the future.
Troubleshooting
- Mount shifts or moves while riding → Ensure all straps or bolts are fully tightened and seated correctly. Re-check that the mount sits flush against the frame.
- Lock does not slide into the mount easily → Verify the mount is aligned correctly and not overtightened in a way that distorts the bracket.
- Key will not turn → Make sure the lock is fully inserted and aligned before turning the key. Do not force the key.
- Excess strap length is sticking out → Thread the remaining strap ends through the integrated rubber keepers to secure them neatly.
FAQs
- Do I need to lock both wheels?
No. Always prioritize locking through the main frame (seat tube or down tube) and a fixed object. Wheels alone can be removed. - Can I mount the Foldylock on a step-through frame?
Yes. Use the reusable strap mounting option when bottle-cage bolts are not available. - What happens if I lose all my keys?
If you registered your key code with Seatylock, you can order replacement keys. If the lock is not registered, replacement keys cannot be created. - Can I mount the lock anywhere on the bike?
No. Mount the lock only on solid frame tubes where it will not interfere with moving parts.
Warning
⚠️ Important Safety & Liability Notice Always ensure the Foldylock mount is securely installed before riding. A loose mount may cause the lock to fall into moving parts, resulting in damage or injury. Never lock your bike by the fork, rear rack, seat stays, or chain stays. These components can be removed or cut, leaving the frame unsecured. Register your Foldylock key code as soon as you receive the lock. Failure to register may prevent replacement keys from being issued in the event of key loss. If you are unsure about installation or use, seek assistance from a qualified bike technician. MOD BIKES is not responsible for damage, theft, or injury resulting from improper installation or use.
