Estimated Time

Before You Start

Tools you will need

  • Multitool with Allen Wrenches (included in your bike tool kit)

Preparation

  • Park your bike on a stable surface.

  • Make sure the workspace is well lit.

  • Unbox your pegs and set aside the included bolts and washers.

Steps

Step 1: Locate the Frame Mounting Points

  • This lower rear part of the frame is called the chainstay. It is one of the two frame tubes on a bicycle that runs from the bottom bracket (where the pedals attach) back to the rear axle dropouts, parallel to the chain.

  • The mounting holes are located on the underside of the chainstay, roughly centered along the chainstay on both sides of the bike.

Step 2: Insert Washers into Mounting Bolts

Step 3: Install the Frame Peg

  1. Look for the L (left) or R (right) marking on the frame peg to confirm which side it installs on.

  2. Align the frame peg with the mounting points so that the knob on the peg faces toward the front of the bike and the bolt hole in the peg lines up with the rear mounting hole on the frame. Make sure both holes are properly aligned before inserting the bolt.
  3. Insert the mounting bolt through the frame hole. Using your multitool, select the 5 mm Allen wrench and tighten the bolt clockwise until the peg is snug and does not move.

  4. The peg should fold toward the back of the bike. To fold the peg, gently push it backward until you hear a click, then release. To unfold, press the peg inward toward the bike and release - it will spring outward on its own.

  5. Repeat the same steps on the opposite side.

Note: Frame foot pegs are designed to fold and lock in the folded position. Fold the peg gently and listen for the click. Folding too quickly or with excessive force may prevent it from locking properly.

Step 4: Test Peg Movement

  • Ensure the pegs stay secure and don’t vibrate.

Troubleshooting

  • Peg pops out when folded → Fold gently until it clicks into place

  • Peg feels loose → Re-tighten bolt with multitool

FAQs

  • Do frame pegs lock into position?
Yes. Frame pegs lock in both folded and unfolded positions.

  • Are frame pegs required for passenger riding?
Yes. They provide safe and stable foot support.

  • Can I install frame pegs and rack pegs at the same time?
No. Only one peg type per mounting point.

  • Can I stand on the pegs?
No. The pegs are designed for resting a passenger’s feet while seated on a rear passenger seat. They are not intended to support the full weight of a standing rider or passenger.
