Dual Battery Installation Guide

The dual battery system on MOD BIKES e-bikes is designed to significantly extend the range and performance of the bike by allowing two batteries to be used sequentially. Here's a general overview of how the dual battery system works on MOD BIKES:

Extended Range: By utilizing two batteries, the e-bike can travel up to 100 miles. This is particularly useful for hauling extra cargo.

Automatic Switching: The system typically manages the batteries intelligently, automatically switching to the second battery without interrupting your commute. This helps maintain optimal performance and prolongs the overall lifespan of the batteries.

Battery Management System (BMS): Each battery comes with its own Battery Management System to monitor performance, prevent excessive discharge, and protect against issues such as overheating. This ensures that both batteries operate safely and efficiently together.

Redundancy and Reliability: In the rare case that one battery fails, the other battery can still power the bike, providing a level of redundancy that increases overall reliability.

These features make the dual battery system a robust choice for riders looking to extend their e-bike’s range and maintain consistent power during longer rides. Feel free to ask if you need specific details or technical specifications on the MOD BIKES dual battery system!

Installing the Dual Battery System on Your MOD BIKE

Find a flat, stable surface to work on where you can easily access your bike.

Ensure your bike is powered off, and remove any existing battery.

Gather the Necessary Tools and Parts:

You will need the dual battery connector, mounting harness for the second battery, and the additional battery itself. Verify that all components are compatible with your specific MOD BIKES model.

Install the Second Battery Mount:

Locate the designated mounting spot for the second battery on the frame, usually on the downtube or underneath the battery tank. Attach the battery mount using the provided screws and brackets, ensuring it is secure and aligned correctly. Use a 3mm Allen wrench as required.

Run the second battery harness power cable through the designated hole into the controller compartment.

Connect the Dual Batteries to the Switcher:

Find the main battery connector for the first battery. Unplug the existing connection.

Locate and identify each cable: (A)Main Battery Harness Cable OUT. (B)Second Battery Harness Cable OUT. (C)Controller Cable IN.

Connect Cable(A) to the Dual Battery Switcher IN port A,  then connect Cable(B) to the Dual Battery Switcher IN port B. Finally, connect the Dual Battery Switcher OUT port to the controller cable (C).  Ensure the connections are tight and secure to prevent any power interruptions.

NOTE: The smaller connectors associated with cables (A) & (C) do not connect to the Dual battery switcher and should be reconnected to each other once the other cables have been secured.

For the MOD Easy, ensure you have run the Main Battery Harness cable through the controller cover plate before moving on to the next steps.

Tuck the Dual Battery Switcher into the same compartment as the controller and close it up.

Secure the Batteries:

Slide the batteries into their mounts, ensuring they click into place securely. Use the respective keys and lock the batteries into their harnesses. Ensure the battery unit's power switches are flipped on.

Test the Installation:

Turn on your bike and check the dual battery system status; if power is flowing, you have set it up successfully.

Charge the Batteries:

Once installed, charge both batteries fully using the appropriate chargers.

Important Tips:

Always ensure the batteries are properly seated and locked into place before riding.
