Simple Steps for a Smooth Throttle

A sticking throttle on your MOD BIKE can turn a pleasant ride into a frustrating experience. Here’s how to ensure your throttle moves smoothly and freely.

Assess the Problem Area

First, identify the exact point where the throttle is sticking. This is usually where the grip meets the throttle guard. Check if the grip is pressed tightly against the guard, causing pinching.

Create Space for Movement

If the grip is wedged, you need to create space. One simple method is to adjust the position of the grip. Loosen the screws or clamps holding the grip in place and slightly slide it away from the throttle guard; a small amount of movement makes a large amount of difference. Ensure the grip is securely fastened after adjustment to avoid slipping during rides.

Adjust the Shifter Position

In cases where the grip cannot be moved due to limited space on the handlebar, adjust the position of the shifter. Loosen the shifter’s mounting bolts, reposition it to allow adequate space, and then retighten the bolts. Loosen the throttle mounting bolt and slightly slide it away from the grip; a small amount of movement makes a large amount of difference. Resecure the throttle mounting bolt.

Test and Fine-Tune

After making the adjustments, test the throttle to ensure it moves smoothly. If there’s still some resistance, fine-tune the position of the grip or shifter until the throttle operates effortlessly.

If your issue persists, there is likely damage or a defect inside the throttle unit. Please reach out to our support team via support@mod-bikes.com.
