Fault Codes (Color Display)
MOD BIKES, like any piece of technology, occasionally encounter issues. MOD BIKES have built-in fault codes that help to diagnose which component has an issue. Understanding these fault codes can often be the key to resolving issues swiftly and getting back on the road!
Error Code | Definition |
Fault 21 | Current Abnormality |
Fault 22 | Throttle Abnormality |
Fault 23 | Motor Abnormality |
Fault 24 | Motor Hall Signal Abnormality |
Fault 25 | Brake Abnormality |
Fault 26 | Battery Under Voltage |
Fault 30 | Communication Abnormality |
21 - Current Abnormality
This error indicates that something is amiss with the power delivery. A firmware update needs to be applied to the display and the controller to remedy this error.
22 - Throttle Abnormality
The throttle cable runs from the throttle (located on the right part of the handlebar) to the main wire harness. This fault code is generally triggered by cables that are shorting out. Troubleshoot here.
23 - Motor Abnormality
This error is usually displayed when the motor's power cable is not properly attached to the bike's main cable. In most cases, this is a relatively quickly resolved error code. Troubleshoot here.
24 - Motor Hall Signal Abnormality
This error is usually displayed when there is a problem with the signal from the motor to the controller. Troubleshoot here.
25 - Brake Abnormality
Your brake levers each contain a sensor that tells the motor to shut off whenever you use your brakes.
There are two cables running from the brake lever - the thicker one is the hydraulic brake cable, and the other is the motor inhibitor’s brake sensor. For V3 models, a brake abnormality means there is an issue with the sensor or a cable shortage. If you experience this, bring your bike in for an assessment.
26 - Battery Under Voltage
This error occurs when the display and controller are out of sync with the battery management system. Your battery is usually at a lower voltage than the display and controller are designed to register. This asynchrony between these components allows the bike to power on but will restrict all other functionality. This can be remedied by charging the battery and having a MOD BIKES Mechanic apply a firmware update to the display and controller.
30 - Communication Abnormality
This error code is the result of one component of the bike’s electrical system not properly “communicating” with another part (whether the display, motor, controller, or wiring). There are many possibilities with this error code. Troubleshoot here.
