21 - Voltage Current Error

This error indicates that something is amiss with the power delivery. There are a few different possibilities to troubleshoot this error code: 

• Double check the battery is in fact fully charged.

  • Check the battery level indicator on the battery itself, and not just on the display screen.

• If the battery is charged, check that the battery is properly positioned and connected in the battery housing. 

• Check the display is set to 48V and not accidentally set to 36V (unless you own an older model MOD City - double check the battery itself if unsure). The display voltage should match the battery voltage.

  • To fix this issue, start by turning your display off by holding the “i” button until the display powers down.  Then, hold the “+”, “-”, and “i” buttons down at the same time until the display turns on.  This will switch the display between 36V and 48V modes, and also reset your Voltage settings.

• This error code can also appear if a cable is unplugged or loose, but it could also indicate a faulty controller or a short circuit with the motor phases. Check all of your bike’s cable connections and ensure they are fully connected.

• If you have checked all the above and still have not resolved the issue, it is possible the display itself might be the issue. 

  • If you have another MOD bike at home, try swapping out the display from your other bike to see if that resolves the issue.

• In rare cases, the result of this error code can be water damage to the battery. 

  • If you suspect this may be the case, let us know and explain what water damage the battery took on.
