Battery Display Issues

If you notice that the battery level readout for your electric bicycle is having issues, it may be due to an incorrect setting or due to a faulty battery. The most common issue is having the bike die when the battery indicator still displays power left in the battery. This guide will help you diagnose and resolve this issue.

Performing the Triple Button Reset

If you are experiencing issues with your battery percentage readout, you may have accidentally changed the voltage setting or switched the display from 48V to 36V mode.  Both of these issues can be rectified by switching the display’s voltage mode.

To fix this issue, start by turning your bike off by holding the “i” button until the display powers down.

Next, hold the “+”, “-”, and “i” buttons down at the same time until the display turns on.  This will switch the display between 36V and 48V modes, and also reset your Voltage settings.

When your display powers back on, it will display the voltage mode.  Both the MOD City+ and the MOD Easy should be in 48V mode to operate correctly, and the MOD City should be in 36V mode.  If your display is in the incorrect mode, you will need to reset the display again by powering the bike down, and then holding the “+”, “-”, and “i” buttons down at the same time until the display turns back on.

Your voltage settings can be accessed by holding the "+" and "-" buttons at the same time to enter the menu then scrolling down and selecting Set Voltage.

For 36v systems, your voltage settings should be:

  • 1 - 28.0
  • 2 - 30.0
  • 3 - 32.0
  • 4 - 34.0
  • 5 - 36.0

For 48v systems, your voltage settings should be:

  • 1 - 40.0
  • 2 - 42.0
  • 3 - 44.0
  • 4 - 46.0
  • 5 - 48.0

Each number (1 - 5) represents the bars on the display's battery indicator. The settings above correspond with the battery's power level. These settings will give you an accurate readout of the battery life you have left, making your ride more enjoyable.
