Installing the Slider Accessory

NOTE: This unique piece of MOD Bikes engineering is NOT compatible with any other brand of of bike rack.

Our proprietary design ensures the most secure connection without sacrificing ease of use. Snap-on accessories you buy from MOD Bikes will always come with the slider installed. Should you ever want to put a slider on your own accessory here is a step-by-step installation guide; we will use our rear basket accessory as an example.

Out of the box

Your new slider should include the following parts: (1) plastic slider base, (4) keyhole pins, (1) locking pin for the rack as seen below. If you are missing any of these pieces, submit a ticket here.

Securing the slider to the rack

This process should be started by installing the lock pin into the underside of the rack. This will be done by screwing the locking pin into the most forward hole on the left side as seen in the photo below.

Securing the slider to the accessories

Once the pin is installed to the rack, the next step is to attach your accessory to the slider. For the purposes of this article we will use our rear basket. The first thing you will want to do is remove the bamboo deck from the basket frame using a 4mm allen wrench.

Once the bamboo deck is removed you will want to attach the frame of the basket to the slider.  This will be done with the bolts and 10mm nut provided with the basket as shown below.  Make sure to not tighten the bolts too tightly, you will also want to test fit the slider with the accessory as you go.

There are two different orientations for attaching the sliders to the accessories. The MOD Easy and MOD Berlin must have 1/3 of the slider positioned forward, and all the other bikes can accept the standard slider placement. This will ensure that your seat, when at its lowest position, will clear the accessory that you are installing.

Once the slider is attached to the frame of the accessory, reattach the bamboo deck to the frame with the 4mm Allen bolts; due to the softness of bamboo, use extra caution to not split the wood. Then you are ready to install the basket onto the rear rack.

Installing the slider base

Firstly, line up the bolts on the underside of the slider with the eyelets of the rear rack.  Once these are lined up you will be able to slip them into place.  Secure the accessory to the rack; simply slide it toward the rear of the bike and you should hear an audible click.  This means that it is securely in place.  Another way to check that it is correctly installed is to make sure that the plunger is all the way engaged.
