NOTE: We strongly recommend taking your bike to your local bike shop or booking a mobile bike technician through Velofix to get your bike professionally assembled.

Step 2: Learn the Basics

Now that your bike is assembled and ready to ride, take a look at our User Guide to learn the basics and get the most out of your ride!

Step 3: Tips & Tricks to Get the most from your MOD BIKES

Here are some Tips & Tricks to get even more out of your journey.

  • Headlight: Hold the + button for 2-3 seconds to turn your headlights and tail lights on and off.

  • Shock Valves: The top shock valve is irrelevant. The bottom valve is what matters for pumping the shock properly. When pumping the bottom MP shock, we highly recommend using a shock pump. The MP requires a much smaller amount of air, and the smaller increments from the shock pump will accommodate that better.

  • Lower Seat: You'll notice that the seat post on the MOD Black has a curve to it, which hinders the seat from lowering all the way down. If you need your seat to lower all the way down, you'll need to remove the seat completely and cut the seat post down so that it will not get "stuck" on the curve.

  • Speed Magnet: Speed is measured by the magnet in the rear wheel spokes. Make sure the flat side of your magnet is completely facing the speed sensor.

  • Version Number: The version number of your bike can be found on the rear of your seat post. If your bike does not have a number, it is version 01.

  • PSI: The proper PSI can be found on the side of your tire. This will let you know the correct pressure to inflate your tire to.

  • Error Code 25:  Be sure not to hold the brakes when turning the bike on! This will activate Error code 25 on your display.

  • Serial Number: The serial number for your bike can be found at the bottom of the head tube.

  • USB Port: There's a hidden USB port at the bottom of the display screen that will charge certain devices on your ride!

⚠️ Important Safety Warning – Rear Rack Use

The rear rack on your MOD Black is not designed or rated to carry passengers. It is intended only for carrying cargo or approved MOD accessories.

Carrying passengers on the rack can cause frame or rack failure, resulting in serious injury or voiding your warranty.
Always use the rack strictly within its rated weight limit and for its intended purpose.

Troubleshooting

  • Loose handlebars or stem → Tighten stem bolts securely using a torque wrench (typically 5–7 Nm) and confirm alignment with the front wheel.

  • Brakes rubbing or misaligned → Loosen the caliper bolts, squeeze the brake lever to center the caliper, then retighten bolts while holding the lever.

  • Pedals won’t thread in or feel stuck → Confirm you're installing the correct pedal on the correct side (L/R marked). Thread in by hand before tightening with a wrench.

  • Chain falls off or shifts poorly → Check derailleur alignment, limit screws, and chain routing. Adjust cable tension using the barrel adjuster if needed.

  • Crank or other bolts keep loosening → Remove the bolt, apply thread locker (like Loctite Blue), and re-tighten to spec.
